CATE Awards
The CATE Award for Contributions to Research in Teacher Education recognizes individuals whose scholarly work has made significant and sustained contributions to teacher education research in Canada over the course of their careers, rather than through a single study or publication. This award honours a body of research that demonstrates excellence, meaningful and innovative contributions, and a clear influence on teacher education scholarship, practice, and policy in Canada and internationally. Nominations must be submitted by a CATE member and include a detailed letter of nomination, the nominee’s curriculum vitae, and supporting letters that collectively provide evidence of research excellence, sustained productivity, and demonstrable impact on the field. The CATE Recognition Awards for Theses and Dissertations on Teacher Education recognize outstanding graduate research that advances knowledge and practice in teacher education in Canada. These awards honour high-quality master’s theses and doctoral dissertations that demonstrate scholarly rigour, originality, and relevance to teacher education across diverse contexts. Graduate student supervisors are invited to encourage eligible students who will defend their thesis or dissertation between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, to apply and to provide a letter of recommendation in support of the application. Applications must include the completed submission materials and a recommendation letter from the student’s thesis supervisor. Submissions are due Monday, April 1, 2026.
